The Stop TB Partnership Nigeria, under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Mr. Mayowa Joel, conducted an advocacy visit to Hon. Amobi Ogah, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (ATM). The visit aimed to reinforce collaboration and accelerate efforts to end TB in Nigeria by 2030.
Key discussion points included:
Dedicated Budget Line for TB Programs: Advocacy for the establishment of a dedicated budget line to ensure sustained funding and effective implementation of TB control initiatives.
Private Sector Engagement: Mobilizing domestic resources through increased private sector involvement to bolster the national TB response.
World TB Day 2025 Activities: The Partnership outlined planned activities for World TB Day 2025, including a Pre-World TB Day Press Conference and a Community Outreach Program in Sauka, Abuja, aimed at raising awareness and fostering community participation.
In a show of commitment, the ATM Committee pledged to collaborate with the Stop TB Partnership Nigeria by hosting a press briefing to commemorate World TB Day 2025. This partnership underscores the importance of political will and multi-sectoral collaboration in achieving the global goal of ending TB.
Together, we can translate commitments into action and move closer to a TB-Free Nigeria by 2030.
