Her Excellency, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi, the First Lady of Jigawa State, has made history by responding to the call of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to invest the wives of Local Government Chairmen as TB Champions in their respective LGAs.
This makes Jigawa the first state in the North-West Zone and the second in the entire North to take this bold step in the fight against Tuberculosis (TB). The initiative aims to spread TB awareness and eradication efforts to the grassroots level across the state.
The investiture ceremony, held at the Government House in Dutse, was supported by the Stop TB Partnership Nigeria and attended by stakeholders from all 27 LGAs in Jigawa. The event was graced by the First Lady, who urged everyone to join hands in the fight to end TB in the state.
The Stop TB Partnership Nigeria team, led by Executive Secretary Mr. Mayowa Joel, praised Jigawa State for its commitment and promised to support advocacy efforts for increased domestic funding for TB programs.
